Timetable Change

Welcome Back!

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to school! This term is going to fly by with all the amazing activities and events we have planned. This includes NAIDOC Week, Science Week, Book Week, Life Education Van incursion, Cross Country, School Photos, Faction Carnival and Parent Learning Journeys.
The students have worked incredibly hard to settle back into their school routine this week, it’s wonderful to see how much they are growing and engaging.
Below is an outline of our learning focusses for the term.

Literacy:
·      Writing different text types including narratives, poetry, procedure and report
·      Experimenting with increasingly complex punctuation including commas, speech marks and ellipses
·      Reading comprehension skills and reading more difficult texts
·      Introduction to figurative language, including using similes and personification
·      Spelling a variety of new sight words and learning the year 2 phonics

Numeracy:
·      Column addition and subtraction with and without regrouping
·      Counting by 2, 3, 5, 10s and learning the relevant times tables to go with these
·      Multiplication and division
·      Fractions
·      Money
·      Numero game and challenges
·      Measurement including mass, capacity, length and volume

Health:
·      CHAT program which focuses on Drug Education

Your help and support is always appreciated as we progress through the year. If you have any questions, please come and see me.

Warm regards,
Miss Ashlee Higgins
